Overall Purpose of the Role:

Our Client currently expanding our production team and are seeking an experienced and skilled Production Manager – Mechanical Engineer as a Deputy General Manager to fill a newly created position within our company. As the Production Manager, you will have the exciting opportunity to establish and lead the operations of our production department. We expect you to have deep know-how in production procedures. Strong leadership skills and a strategic mindset will be instrumental in setting up efficient manufacturing processes, ensuring quality standards and driving the timely delivery of our products. Decision-making and problem-solving will take up a great part of your day.

To succeed in the role, you will need to have:

  • Production Planning: Plan, organise and coordinate the day-to-day production plans and schedules to ensure smooth operations and effectively utilise resources. Monitor production schedules, assess capacity requirements and adjust plans as necessary to meet customer demands and delivery timelines.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team to ensure smooth operations and productivity establishing clear roles and responsibilities to ensure smooth operations and productivity.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality control measures to define and maintain high product standards and compliance with industry regulations, specifically ISO.
  • Process Optimisation: Identify opportunities for process improvement, implementing best practices and driving efficiency to maximise operational performance.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Manage the maintenance of production equipment to minimise downtime.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the department in developing inventory management systems and procedures to monitor and control raw materials and finished goods effectively. Optimise stock availability and minimise excess inventory through efficient processes.
  • Cost Management: Work closely with the management to monitor production costs and implement cost-saving measures without compromising product quality.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulation to maintain a safe working environment and promoting safe practices and protocols.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively seek opportunities to improve processes, streamline workflows, and implement best practices for increased productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration to ensure seamless coordination and achievement of production objectives.
  • Skills/Experience Required:
  • Proven experience in aluminum manufacturing or a similar production environment, with a track record of successfully managing and leading production teams.
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, equipment and quality control standards within the manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in production planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Sound understanding of quality control principles and practices.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, with the capacity to motivate and inspire a team towards achieving production goals.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills to identify process bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in using production management software and computer applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • A relevant degree in engineering, manufacturing or a related field is desirable but not required.
