The Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing and developing Account Executives. Their primary role is working with Account Executive in the office and out in the field.

The Sales Manager directs the booking of all orders into the traffic system. Works closely with Traffic to reconcile billings and inventory usage. Assists in the prioritization of production jobs. Develop packaging opportunities and sales strategies with Research to prepare estimates for selling titles, events and packages for rate card preparation. Position implements the training of Sales Assistants on sales process and systems. Attend sales calls with Account Executives to help train, develop and close business. Enforce Sales Force compliance and utilize Sales Force as the core database and management tool for the division. Enforce Accounts Receivables policies culminating in budgeted bad debt goals and 120 day receivable percentage targets. Conduct weekly one on ones with the Account Executives to go over all account status, activity, and pending opportunities. Assist the General Sales Manager (GSM) with budget and forecasting process. Interact routinely with GSM/Traffic to create special packaging of media to achieve and exceed stated revenue budget goals. Assess ongoing systems, operational and servicing needs of Local Ad Sales to maintain industry service standards. Work closely with GSM to establish annual ad sales budgets.

7 years in sales industry (4+ years for internal hires)
•3+ years managerial sales experience
•Charismatic and enthusiastic leader with skill and experience in creating excitement and energy, building and leading teams and developing skills in others.
•Proven ability to motivate sales staff
•Financial/budgeting experience
•Demonstrated success managing team performance to meet and exceed sales targets
•Track record of championing change to move business forward
•Demonstrated use of sales reporting tools and analytics to inform business decisions

Strongly preferred that the candidate has done cold calling and sold media
